Ironbound Press is proud to be publishing
a new book on the history of Winter Harbor, Maine by historian,
teacher, and Winter Harbor native, Allan Smallidge.
In Musquito Harbor, Allan presents the complete history of a
small coastal town in Downeast Maine.
He describes how the area was settled during the 18th century, how
a community was formed and evolved over the course of the 19th century,
culminating, in 1895, in the incorporation of Winter Harbor, and how,
over the course of the 20th century, the town transformed itself into
what we see today.
More importantly, Allan brings Winter Harbor's past to life by engaging
us in the stories of the many people who have called Winter Harbor home,
including those who shaped the history of Winter Harbor and some who
also shaped the world at large.
This book includes over 100 historic photographs and illustrations.
